Roofing Services in Liverpool
From minor roof repairs to complete roof replacement, Roofer & Builder provides professional roofing services across Liverpool, Merseyside, Wirral and surrounding areas.
Our experienced roofers work on pitched roofs, flat roofs, slate and tiled roofs, felt roofing, chimney areas, leadwork, rooflines and other associated roofing components.
Whether you have an active leak, visible damage or are planning more extensive roofing work, we will assess the roof, explain the available options and provide a clear quotation.
Roofing Work for Homes and Properties Across Liverpool
Your roof is made up of several connected components, and a problem in one area can often affect another.
A missing tile may expose the underlay beneath. Failed flashing can allow water to enter around a chimney. Damaged gutters can direct water back towards the roofline, while deterioration to a flat roof can affect the deck and structure below.
Our team assesses the wider condition of the affected area before recommending the work required.
From localised repairs and maintenance to more extensive roof restoration and replacement, we provide roofing services tailored to the condition and construction of the property.
How to Choose the Right Roofing Service
In short: start with what you can see and how urgent it is. Water coming through a ceiling needs making safe first, a slipped tile or loose ridge on an otherwise sound roof usually needs a targeted repair, and a roof that keeps failing in different places is worth assessing for replacement. If you are unsure, an inspection is a sensible first step.
| What you have noticed | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Water coming in during rain, or damage after high winds | Emergency roofing or storm damage roof repairs |
| A ceiling stain that grows after heavy rain | Roof leak repair, tracing the entry point first |
| Slipped tiles, broken slates or mortar falling from the ridge | Roof repairs, including ridge and valley work |
| Damp around a chimney breast or where the roof meets a wall | Chimney stack repairs and leadwork |
| A leaking garage, extension or dormer roof | Flat roofing in felt, EPDM or GRP |
| A survey has flagged the roof, or you are buying a house | Roof inspections |
You do not need to pick the right category before you call. Tell us what you have seen and we will suggest whether an inspection, a repair visit or an urgent make-safe is the right starting point.
Repair or Replace? Questions Worth Asking
A few slipped tiles are rarely a reason for a new roof. The harder decisions involve roofs that are ageing but still mostly weathertight, and these questions help to settle them:
- How often has it needed attention? An occasional repair is normal maintenance. A new fault after every storm, each time in a different place, suggests the fixings or covering are wearing out.
- What does the loft show? Sound felt and battens favour repair. Brittle, torn felt or rotten battens across the roof point towards renewal.
- Is scaffolding going up anyway? If access is needed for a chimney or new fascias, renewing a tired slope at the same time can avoid paying for access twice.
- What are your plans for the house? Solar panels, roof windows or a loft conversion added to a roof that will soon need replacing may have to come off again later.
- Is only one slope affected? A rear slope or outrigger that takes the worst of the weather can sometimes be re-covered on its own.
Our roof repairs page covers targeted work on a sound roof, and roof replacement covers full and partial re-roofing.

I had an issue with my flashing so had six roofers out to quote... John was the only one of the six who seemed genuine and trustworthy. This turned out to be the case... he did the work for a fair price, gave a proper invoice with breakdown of work, communicated well and left it all tidy. One of the firms who quoted said we needed a new roof (we didn't). It's so important to get several quotes and trust your gut. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

Roofer and Builder have just completed gutter and rain pipe replacement around our whole house. They were a delight to deal with - friendly, helpful and very efficient. The work was done by a team of five in a single day and was to a high standard. They cleaned up carefully on completing the work. Maybe not the cheapest but probably the best.Posted on Google![]()

I cannot recommend John and his team enough. I had water leaking through my ceiling after a storm (3 days before Christmas!). John and his team were able to attend the same day. John was very knowledgable, assessed and explained the damage with photographs, and gave me repair options on other problems that were found. The team completed all the work the same day and really went above and beyond to do a great job rather than just a patch up. They've saved me a lot of stress and were pleasant and professional to deal with throughout. I will be contacting John again for future work.Posted on Google![]()

Their helpful attitude and commitment to excellence make them the go-to choice for any roofing needs. I wholeheartedly recommend this roofer for their exceptional work and integrity.Posted on Google![]()

We had a problem that had been going on for years with various people trying to repair it and failing. Last December John came and repaired the roof. The materials used were 1st class, I have photos of every stage of the operation and after rain of biblical proportions I can now safely say that the roof is sound and my house is drying out. I can’t even begin to express my gratitude and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anybody. Thank you
FAQs
Roofing Works FAQs
What types of roofing work do you undertake?
We undertake roof repairs, pitched roofing, flat roofing, tiled and slate roof work, chimney repairs, leadwork, roofline replacement and complete re-roofing projects.
Do you repair both pitched and flat roofs?
Yes. We work on a range of pitched and flat roof constructions, including tiled, slate, felt, EPDM and GRP roofing systems.
How do I know whether my roof needs repairing or replacing?
Localised defects can often be repaired where the surrounding roof remains in suitable condition. More extensive deterioration, recurring leaks or widespread failure may make larger restoration or replacement work more appropriate.
Can you inspect a leaking roof?
Yes. We can assess visible defects and likely water entry points, including damaged roof coverings, flashing, valleys, chimney areas and other roof junctions.
Do you provide emergency roofing services?
Yes. Emergency assistance is available for active leaks, storm damage and urgent roofing defects, subject to location, weather conditions and safe access.
How much does roofing work cost?
The cost depends on the type of roof, extent of the work, materials required and access arrangements. We will assess the proposed work and provide a quotation based on the agreed scope.
Can one part of a roof be replaced rather than the whole roof?
Often, yes, if the rest of the roof is sound. The new section has to tie in neatly with the old at the ridge, valleys and verges, and on a visible slope the tiles or slates should match as closely as possible. Bear in mind that re-covering more than 25% of the roof brings in Building Regulations requirements for insulation and notification.
Should my roof be checked before solar panels are fitted?
It is worth doing. Panel brackets are fixed to the rafters beneath the tiles or slates, so the covering, battens and timbers need to be in good order to carry them. If the roof is likely to need major repairs or replacing within a few years, dealing with that first is usually cheaper than paying for the panels to be removed and refitted later.
